WHAT IS ADAS?
Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are electronic systems that assist drivers in driving and parking functions. Through a safe human-machine interface, ADAS increase car and road safety. ADAS systems use automated technology, such as sensors and cameras, to detect nearby obstacles or driver errors, and respond accordingly.
Technology is rapidly advancing in the Automotive industry. New technology means that many vehicles are now equipped with advanced driver camera systems (ADAS) which are mounted on or near the windscreen.
These systems can control many of your cars processes such as lane departure warnings, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance systems and automatic headlights. They are there to protect both you and your vehicle on the road, therefore it is essential that after a windscreen replacement, these cameras be recalibrated in order to continue working properly.
Windscreen replacement is not the only time your vehicle may require re-calibration. Changing your tyre size, having a wheel alignment, or being involved in a collision are all situations where your ADAS system needs to be recalibrated.
Precision Autoglass technicians are fully trained to carry out comprehensive testing to ensure that every part of the ADAS system is working as expected, thereby not compromising you or your family’s safety.
Our trained experts may carry out either a Static or Active Recalibration. Static Recalibration requires a controlled environment, and your car is stationary. A technician will use specialised tools and targets to assess and carry out any adjustments. An Active recalibration involves driving the vehicle at a set speed on well-marked roads. Depending on your vehicles make and model, recalibration can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
Precision Autoglass are proud to announce that our company has the latest ADAS recalibration equipment. We are committed to take a proactive approach to vehicle technology advances and stay informed and adjust our practises accordingly.
